Current F-Lite models from Inov-8
TheShoeMart carries all of these models below. You can click on any of the images below to purchase that model.
The easiest difference to explain between these models are their weights. The model number is the shoe’s weight in (g) grams. So the F-Lite 195 weighs 195g, F-Lite 230 weighs 230g, etc…
The F-Lites are all extremely light and it’s hard to notice the difference when you’re wearing them. Maybe if you’re comparing the 195 to the 311, but between the other models it’s pretty tough.
Arrow Shoc-Zone (More Arrows = More Cushioning)
Those small arrows on the sole pictured above are there to show you what “Arrow Shoc-Zone” your pair of Inov-8s are. The Arrow Shoc-Zone is a term Inov-8 uses to define the amount of sole cushioning and differential (we’ll get into the differential in the next section).
More arrows = more cushioning. The F-Lite 195 is a 1 Arrow, F-Lite 220 & 230 are 2 Arrows, and the F-Lite 311 is a 3 Arrow. In other words, the F-Lite 195 has the least cushioning, the 220 & 230 are in the middle and the F-Lite 311 has the most cushioning.
Differential / Flatness
In the simplest terms, the differential is referring to how flat the Inov-8 shoes are. The differential is the difference between the cushion by the heel and the cushion near the mid-foot. The F-Lite 230 (shown above) has a 6mm differential. The heel is 15mm and the mid-foot is 9mm (15 – 9 = 6). The lower the differential, the flatter the shoes.
The F-Lite 195 has a 3mm differential, the 220 & 230 have 6mm differentials, and the 311 has a 9mm differential.
The Small Details: Shoe Laces…
First off, just note that both style laces function great and are durable. It’s just a cosmetic difference between the models.
The F-Lite 195 & 230s have these style laces:
The F-Lite 220 & 311s have these style laces:
This is also another minor, cosmetic difference. The F-Lite 195, 230, and 311 have standard black soles, but the F-Lite 220 has a unique clear sole as show below. All of the Inov-8 F-Lite models are made with “sticky rubber” so there is no difference in performance. It just looks cool.
